In 2004, Redmoon Theater entered into a long-term partnership with Audubon Elementary School, a Chicago Public School located in Roscoe Village on the north side of the city. The partnership pairs professional teaching artists from Redmoon Theater with classroom teachers at Audubon School to develop vibrant fine-arts curriculum that is fully integrated with the school’s academic programs. The goal of the program is to create meaningful and effective learning opportunities for students and teachers by integrating the tenets of Spectacle Theater such as ritual, song, precession, image making, and symbolic movements into the classroom, the school and the community at large.
Three Redmoon teaching artists currently provide twelve hours per week in the school’s first, third seventh and eighth grade classrooms.
